Tagged...6 Interesting about me.

Posted by Faizin

Victoria and Kelly from Design Ties have asked me to write 6 interesting things about myself. Always up for the challenge so I will try to think of things about me that you might find surprising or just mildly interesting. Then I am to name 6 other blogs and ask them to do the same. So, already I am thinking of who to ask that already hasn't been ask! So here we go, I haven't got all the lovely pictures to go with this post but I will still do my best!

1. I have represented the Under 21 Victorian State Team for Women's Cricket

That's right, I have played women's cricket for many years since I was 9 years old at open age level. This continued up till about the age of 35 where I had to retire due to family commitments. Cricket has been such a huge force in my family as my beautiful mother was a top sports administrator and was actually secretary of the International Women's Cricket Association. She also managed the first women's cricket team to tour India. (All this is for another time). So, now I am a cricket mum and watch my two boys play on the weekend. here is a picture of my husband and son playing in a father/son team for the club. Oh...don't be alarmed by all that white stuff on Mr B's face, all cricketers wear total block out cream when they are in the field all day.

2. My secret wish is to become a interior designer.

But my really special wish is to get my house into one of those house magazines we have in Australia. I have always wanted to do this ever since I can remember. I have even looked up who to contact and I still cant work out how to go about it LOL

3. I have this thing about toilets!

I swear this is the truth but when I was a little girl, every time my parents took me to visit somebody, I would sneak off to look at their toilets and bathrooms. But what my parents didn't know that I also loved to go and have a good sticky beak at everything else! I have been in love with houses for as long as I can remember, even today, I look around, touch photographs always compliment the host on something that has caught my eye...I just cant help it. I am fascinated by the way people live, it tells you so much about that person.

4. I have haunted house dreams...all the time

I promise you last post about houses....but I regularly have dreams about haunted houses so much so, it actually disturbs me for the rest of the day. I know my dreams symbolise something that may be worrying me but what is even stranger is that Mr B is also having similar dreams. The house in my dreams is my Grandmas house, our first home. Mr B renovated it over a number of years and we all loved that house as my grandparents built it during the 1920's. I never felt scared living there but very protected. My Pop actually died in the bedroom where we slept but it had the most beautiful, warm feeling about the room...he was an amazing man but I never got to meet him as he died 3 months before I was born. So, my dream is that we go back to this house but now it doesn't have the same feeling, when I walk through the rooms, I feel there is someone else there and not happy I have come back. It is the same sort of dream all the time. We sold the house shortly after my mother died so I think even today I feel a lot of guilt about this.

5. I use to play in a jazz band...Saxophone

For many years I use to play saxophone in a 'Glen Miller' type show band on Lead Alto. I am still a music teacher but haven't practised seriously for a number of years now. When I was at college, I would practise for at least up to 5-6 hours a day. I played in the band for about 10 years but it took a lot of dedication to keep my standard up and with all the rehearsals and gigs were just too much with two young kids.

6. First time ever I have to diet and I am Hungry!!!

There is no more excuses guys, my last baby was 2 years ago so I cant use that excuse any more haha yes, I have put on too much weight and all my clothing is getting bigger so I finally have had enough! I have joined the Lite and Easy program where you are given all the food you need for the week and that is it. I have been so good and eaten all the food I am meant to eat. I will say that I did cheat once, Mr B and the kids left the house and I spied these lovely ANZAC biscuits in my cupboard...I had one! But I am very proud of myself and I have lost weight sensibly.

So there you go, I racked my brains all last night to think about what I would say. So I thought that a combination of interesting, quirky, embarrassing (nobody else would admit to a fascination for toilets) comments so I hope you found at least one a tiny bit interesting.

Here is the part I am looking forward to the most...I would like to name the following wonderful, quirky, interesting, inspiring people to tell us 6 interesting things about them.

Lee from Glimpse of Style

Stormy from Stormy's Castle

Kek from Moving On Up

Anna from Toxteth

Allan from Building our first House

Kexkez from Where the hearth is

It is actually quite daunting to select bloggers to participate as I know many on my blog favourites list ( mostly from overseas) have already been asked. So, I have tried to have an all Australian list ....a few I have included that are on my house forum that I frequent. So get writing guys...you have been Tagged!
